OK – but what IS a Faux Art Show?

It’s a gathering of friends where people will submit a piece of art from your childhood, your high school art class, or something you’ve created as a novice in that medium. We will create a gallery to admire our work. In short, it will be a celebration of creativity and joy! And it’s a way to not take ourselves too seriously, to remember that art doesn’t have to be “good” to be appreciated, and a moment to celebrate that we are all creative AF.

If you’re thinking “that’s weird.” You’re not wrong… it’s downright absurd! But what else would life in Fargo be if we didn’t make it whimsical!?

So what we’re saying is, you definitely wanna join in these festivities.

We know you wanna RSVP “Hell Yes!” to this kick-ass evening. Because, duh. It’s going to be amazing. Here are your RSVP options:

• Artist / Creator: Chip in $10 and submit a piece of artwork that we can add to our gallery (you’ll get it back!) Ideally, we’d love for it to be artwork you created as a kiddo, what you created as an angsty teen in your high school art class, or something you’ve made as a novice in that medium. We’ll also take a poem, a photo project, or any creative shit you’ve done. For real. We’re looking to be entertained not impressed by your artistic prowess.
• Art Patron: No artwork, no problem! Instead you get to be a patron to our artists and chip in $20 to cover the costs of the venue, food, and beverages.
• VIP Patron: Chip in $30 to be a VIP patron and get a lil’ something extra special at the event to show off your swagger.

You ready for the logistics?
Who: You and a bunch of other kick-ass friends. This is, in fact, an invitation-only event. We don’t wanna hang with everybody – but we do wanna hang with you! (And as long as your plus-one is cool, that’s cool! Invite ’em!)
Where: The Spirit Room, Downtown Fargo
When: Saturday, April 1 (Yes, really. That’s part of what makes this funny.) from 7pm – 9:30pm
What: A glorious art gallery, boozy & non-boozy drinks, and creative food.
Cost: Based on your RSVP type, you’ll contribute art or $$$. Or if you just wanna throw in some money to make sure we all have a good time, we’re not gonna say no to that. We’ll use that sweet sweet $$$ to cover the venue costs, drinks, and apps.
What to wear: Dress to impress (eclectic chic!) BUT you cannot purchase anything brand new. Wear something you already own, swap an outfit with a pal, or hit up the thrift store!
